Belfair Barn Dance in Belfair, Washington

In the good old days there were Dance halls everywhere in the Pacific Northwest. One of the most famous was "The Belfair Barn Dance" . The dancing and singing went together well. Mostly country artists were showcased there. One of the owners was a country musician also. Bill Griffith and his Jack Pine Ramblers performed there often. Huge crowds would gather on friday and saturday evenings for food, drink, music and dancing. A great gathering place for such a small community. Popular for many years, many people met there and married after...romance and music, all in Belfair. Oh yes, those were the really were the good old days. Wishing the Barn Dance was still there... good memories....

Radio KVI in Seattle, Washington

Remember When? In the Seattle, Washington area we also have KVI classic radio. In the 1940's they hosted programs featuring country music. Sagebrush Seranade was on during mid day. Chuckwagon Jamboree on at 5:30pm and Ranch House roundup at 10:30 pm. Harry Long and Buck Ritchie were the hosts. When KVI no longer played country music, the disk jockeys were instrumental in bringing Country entertainers to our Evergreen and Puyallup fairs and club venues. And transferred their talents to Country KAYO radio. Others followed, Bobby Wooten and Gary Vance brought true country music into our homes for many years. They are a major part of radio history in the Seattle area. Oh, remember when...country music at its finest...

Country Music Radio, Classic

Growing up and listening to Country Music on the radio was a way of life for my family. A particular local radio station in the Seattle, Washington market was our favorite. Yes, Country "Kayo" was our fav..... Listening to the stylings of Merle Haggard, Jimmy Dean, Hank Snow, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette and singing along and memorizing all of those old time country classics. I'm 57 years young and still remember most of the words. And I do of course have a fondness still for the music from the heartland...Country.
