Country music magazines from the past...Jamboree and Country Song Roundup....filled with news of the era....a great legacy for this type of music history. Magazines of this type were very popular in the 1950's and 1960's. Some are even in museum collections now. The good old days!

Country artists Kari Scott , Harvey Thomas, photo

In the pacific northwest we are lucky to have so much musical talent.... Kari Scott and Harvey Thomas performed in many Puget Sound venues. Their music was popular with all ages. Mainly country songs...with a mix of gospel and pop also.  One of their best:  " Snowbird" was performed every evening...sometimes seven or eight times...it was requested by the audience over and over. Singer, Songwriter, Michael Travis West, photo and story

Michael Travis West first starting writing and singing country music in Northwest Washington state in 1964.  He is a well known country artist and has been involved with the music scene in the other northwest areas as well. He says that an idea for a song can come from just about anywhere...His classic song, Dusty little Girl, was written for his daughter.  The song "I'm your man" was written about a very sad stranger... His country songs are in his latest CD  "West Country", it is the best of all the years entertaining in so many venues.
